Image Licensing & Usage
Last updated July 26, 2026
Thanks for your interest in my photography. Every image on ChrisBallam.com was made by me during my own travels and backpacking trips, and I'm always glad to see the work put to good use. This page explains what you can do with these photos and how to request permission when you need it.
Copyright
All photographs and videos on this site are original works © Chris Ballam. All rights reserved. You're welcome to view and enjoy them here, but the images may not be copied, downloaded, reproduced, redistributed, modified, or used — commercially or non-commercially — without prior written permission.
Licensing is available
Most images can be licensed for a range of uses, including:
- Editorial use in articles, blogs, and publications
- Personal use such as prints or non-commercial projects
- Commercial use by businesses and organizations
- Nonprofit, educational, and church or humanitarian use (often at no cost — just ask)
Terms depend on how and where the image will be used, so the simplest thing is to reach out and tell me what you have in mind.
How to request a license
Get in touch through my contact page. To help me respond quickly, please include:
- The image you'd like to use (the page URL or a screenshot works)
- Where it will appear and how it will be used
- Whether the use is personal, editorial, commercial, or nonprofit
If permission is granted
Unless we agree otherwise, please credit images as Photo © Chris Ballam / ChrisBallam.com, and don't alter them beyond basic cropping or resizing. Any granted license applies only to the specific use we discuss and isn't transferable to third parties.
